Garage updates
The shelves are up! The garage is cleaned and it is rather nice place. Only my stock shocks stayed on the floor because I was way too tired to lift them on top of my part of the shelves.
Got the AW11 running again, after winter months. I tightened the battery ground cable and the car started on the first try.
Nothing really special here, the car runs without a hitch. 116601 kilometers on the odo.
The plugs looked great but there was this weird cream colored residue. Widrics four-doored GC8 on the background.
Suspension refurb
Got some of my spare parts from the barn. What I’m going to do is clean everything, paint them decently and put them back to the car.
Rear hubs and lower arm and whatnot
This trick seems to work, using puller you can push the old rubber out
Ready for the cleaning
Updates to blog
Some updates on the way!
Wheel hardware
How do you clean these things???
I’ve been brushing them with smooth brass brush and the sealant just sticks and wont leave. I might have tried Widric’s ultrasonic cleaner too and*cough* might have ruined it. Emphasis on might. Used xylene and for a long time, I was happy. Fumes get you high 🙂
Idea of going through 120 bolts and nuts by hand is driving me mad.
A 1/10 scale AW11 rc car shell
Got one of these:
At the same time I got a 22B Impreza for Widric 🙂
My head hurts
Still no progress with my head. I’m not any closer to getting medication as I was back in the autumn. Fuck the doctors.
Here is my head in a MRI scan
Ronal ACT SC Wheels
Found a set of Ronal ACT SC 15×7″ +38 wheels from northern Spain, Basque country. Bought them and got em here.
Condition was fantastic! Had to test fit them immediately.
And just seconds after this photo wanted to have wider rear wheels 🙂
Took the wheels apart. This was really hard. Previous owner had pretty much used sealant everywhere and I managed to get only the lip side off. Had to resort to friends and acquitances to actually split the parts.
What the hell?! Titanium hardware!
…and this is how they look now:
Powdercoated in gold with huge layer of protective lacquer.
Compared to the SSR’s: (Dont worry, the floor is very clean and smooth)
Still waiting for the wider rear lips, they ended up being custom made in germany. That is what you get when you have +20-year old wheels that are freakishly rare. 🙂
Original lips are 0.5″ wide, but the rears will get a 1.5″ wide. Nothing spectacular but I’m not after stance, just wanting to get a nice drivers car 🙂
The wider lip for the rear is going to widen the wheel up to 15×8″ and +26 offset and will end up with 15″ x 7″ +38 fronts and 15″ x 8″ +26 rears. To slightly correct the offset and wideness fronts will get a 10mm spacer, maybe a H&R Trak+. For tires, front will be Toyo T1R 195/50 and rear 215/45. I can also use Toyo R1R in 195/50 and 225/45 if needed.
A 240km/h speedo for the AW11
Found one!
I found a whole gauge cluster to be exact, but the clear plastic was missing. The cluster had acquired a lot of dust and was in need of cleansing.
All cleaned!
